Sharing Photos on the Fly

iPhoto's Journals feature

All of us know the enormous amount of apps on the market for our iPad, iPhone, Droid and other mobile devices. The photo category is dominated by programs like Instagram and everyone else who wants to be like them, this types of programs add cool effects to the pictures such as imitating film or alternative processes, or even as simple as adding vignettes.

But for creating and sharing entire photo albums, far fewer options exist. Thankfully, that short list includes two newly released apps, iPhoto ($5) and Pholium ($5), that will appeal to many photographers.

It's not surprise that Apple is dominating this category with a condensed version of iPhoto.
One interesting feature allows you to take multiple photos of one subject over the course of a weekend, for instance, the app will detect the similarities and display all matching photos in the viewer so you can quickly eliminate shots you don’t like.

Once you’ve chosen the good ones, you can manipulate images in a wide variety of ways, with extremely smart controls. With the Brushes feature, you drag your finger across parts of the photo to change its light, color saturation, red eye or clarity, among other things.

If you mess up, the Undo button prevents permanent damage, as does the Revert command, which returns the image to its untouched version.

Have extra time, build a Journal. If you select multiple images from the photo library, the app creates a journal that you can easily customize by dragging photos around and adding captions.
